Finances & Cost of living

Living in the UK can be an expensive experience if you are not in control of your finances. Some regions, London for example, are more expensive than others. Before you leave you should prepare a budget that will take into account:

• Your course fees:
  You will know the cost of these when enrolling with your school.
• Accommodation:
  If your accommodation has been arranged through the school, you'll know the prices beforehand. Expect to pay £400 - £600 per month for your accommodation.
• Bills:
  Telephone, gas, electricity, TV licence, water, internet connection – these may be included in the cost of your accommodation or may be an additional cost. It's a good idea to check beforehand whether these are included or not.
• Food:
  The best way to get an idea of the cost of food is to log onto one of the supermarket websites such as Sainsbury's to view their product prices. If you are staying near a fresh food market, you'll often find the produce cheaper and fresher there.
• Entertainment:
  Remember to budget for your entertainment needs - Going to the cinema, pubs, bars, theatres and so on.
