Health

Before you leave home, it is advisable that you seek advice from the British Embassy in your country on what health-related documentation you need to bring with you. Depending on your country, you may be asked to produce health certificates or records that state what vaccinations you have had, particularly if you are coming from a country that is considered high-risk.

You are entitled to free or subsidised government healthcare with the National Health Service (NHS) if:

1.The course you are studying runs for longer than six months. OR
2.You are a British National OR
3.Resident in an EEA (European Economic Area) country.

If your course runs for less than six months, then we recommend taking out medical insurance before leaving home.

In order to receive health care on the NHS, you must register with a doctor in the area you will be staying. A full list of local doctors is available on the NHS website.

Advice for everyone is available 24 hours a day via the NHS direct hotline (0845 46 47). You can call the hotline to speak with a qualified nurse who will advise you on how best to treat your symptoms. You can also visit the NHS Direct website.
