Transport & Travel


You should find it easy to travel around the UK as there is a variety of public transport available. You can use planes, trains, buses, taxis or the underground.

Buses
Coaches provide long-distance links throughout the UK. This is perhaps the most cost-effective way of travelling in the UK on public transport.

Trains
The rail network in the United Kingdom consists of two independent parts; Northern Ireland and Great Britain. The rail network in Great Britain is the oldest in the world and is a terrific way to get around the UK quickly. Discounts are available for holders of a Young Persons rail card. Underground Systems
Four cities in the UK have underground train systems. The London Underground (known as the Tube), is the oldest and longest system in the world.

Air transport
There are 471 airports in the UK with the main one being London Heathrow, the busiest in the world. London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester Airport, Cardiff International, Glasgow International, Belfast International and Birmingham International are a few of the other main airports located in the UK.
